On The Road Again
A+O will preview selected highlights from their excellent upcoming July 30th catalogue in Wellington. We will be at the excellent Chaffers Gallery again in the Chaffers Dock Complex from the 9th to the 13th of July. The catalogue represents a particularly strong offering, carefully thought through and tailored for the current market. Response to our Wellington viewing was overwhelming last time and we can only hope that Wellingtonians come out to support a few Aucklanders again. Further details coming soon...

The Odyssey Group Collection
ART+OBJECT will hold its next sale of Important Paintings and Sculpture on July 30th. We are delighted to announce that we've been selected to offer the collection of The Odyssey Group, an art buying collective which is disbanding after ten years. After the success of both the ART+TEXT Collection and the Hanging Around Group, we look forward to bringing this excellent offering to market on July 30th. Highlights are to numerous to list but include an absolutely stunning large John Pule from the artist's Hiapo series and a brilliant, optically-charged Sara Hughes.

Important Paintings Sale
Thursday night's Important Paintings Sale, A+O's first for 2009, was a great success. Around $800 000 of art was sold under the hammer, with several subject sales still to be confirmed. Highlights included the major emerald green Hammond Flag selling for $256 635 under the hammer, Tony Fomison's Detail for a Dancing Skeleton making $133 450 also under the hammer, and Colin McCahon's Waterfall, being bid on the night to $239 526 before being accepted by the vendor. The overall feeling at A+O can best be described as one of general relief and now we can all look forward to the next round of sales knowing that the market is healthy and robust...

Last Days of Summer - Check out The Darlings

I caught up with Callie Blood the other day. Last time I'd seen her was when she performed at Bayfield School last year to raise funds for the kids. If you're in Auckland Callie is singing with Jackie Clarke and Wayne Bell (The Darlings) at Sale Street each Tuesday through April after their March appearances were so popular. Grab a beer and enjoy the last of summer's evenings.
