Following on from last week's post on saleroom highlights from the
Important Paintings and Contemporary Art sale, here are some of the highlights from
The Times Group Collection. Of the 51 lots offered from the buying group's collection, an impressive 47 were sold under the hammer with a following two lots sold subsequently, leaving currently only two unsold works. The total value transacted from the group's collection was almost exactly $200, 000; interestingly, individual group members put in $9000 each, so $189 000 across 21 members in total. After commission and costs members will recoup around $8600 each against their ten year investment of $9000 - pretty good going given what the art they've been able to live with, their level of enjoyment and what they've come to learn about art.
