Rare Book Auction: Wednesday 18th August
On view at A+O from Sunday 15th August at 11.00am is a quality offering of 450 lots of Rare and Out of Print Books. Highlights include:
A Boer war diary, a highly detailed account of the Boer war by an English volunteer. Est $1200. Other early Boer war titles.
Two private collections of cricketing and fishing books including Triangular Cricket by E.H. D. Sewell, several first edition fishing books by Zane Grey; Rough Guide to New Zealand Big Game Fishing by C.Alma Baker 1937 [Private Circulation ].
A large selection of New Zealand regional Histories including many from Otago and Southland, “King of the Bluff” by Hall-Jones, “Titi Heritage” by Eva Wilson “West Coast Sounds” by Malcolm Ross. Early plan of the Thames Gold Fields. Subdivision Plan of Piha.
A fine copy of Dan Davin’s first book “Cliffs of Fall” Est $600.

On December 7th ART+OBJECT is to offer over 60 vintage prints from the estate of Brian Brake. A book will be published to mark this landmark event and the auction will coincide with a posthumous retrospective held by the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa. Highlights include a complete boxed portfolio of twenty images of Picasso at the Bullfight, a large number of prints from the iconic Monsoon series and numerous images from the landmark Shadbolt/Brake publication New Zealand: Gift of the Sea. No outside entries will be accepted and further details are to come.
