Our First Goldie!

ART+OBJECT has consigned its first C. F Goldie. Entitled Ahinata te Rangitautini, the painting is a beauty and has wonderful provenance, belonging to the family of Sir George Fowlds, former Minister of Education and Public Health, who originally purchased the painting directly from Goldie soon after it was painted in 1909. Ahinata te Rangitautini will be offered in the November 27th Important Paintings and Sculpture auction with an estimate of $150 000 - $200 000, a catalogue which is shaping up as our best yet. Further suitable entries are now invited until late October.

We Really Have Been Busy - Honest...

It's been quite sometime since our last auction although we've been super busy behind the scenes, honest, really we have... In the last two months we've completed valuations of the public gallery collections of Christchurch Art Gallery, Te Puna O Waiwhetu, The Sarjeant Gallery in Wanganui, Hawke's Bay Museum and Gallery and The Rotorua Museum of Art and History. The Christchurch Art Gallery Collection valuation comprised of over 6000 works and alone took five weeks to complete...

Fortune Favours the Brave?

Next Saturday night A+O will be auctioning one very special lot at the ARTSPACE 21st birthday celebrations. So special, in fact, that not even we know what it is... That's right, up for sale is one art work, commissioned by what Brian Butler refers to as a very 'important New Zealand artist' which will only be revealed once the hammer has fallen.
